Hi
Can really use some help. Okay. So my roomates and I were living in a house that we were renting. We had a 6 month lease and we were around the fourth month and our bathtub became broken. It would constantly run hot water. So to avoid a huge utility bill we were forced to turn our water off at the main line of the house. We notified our landlord and we were more than patient with him fixing it. From what I understood he has 24 hours to fix running water and or plumbing issues. Ten days maximum if it wouldn't fall under either of those. (Even though it does) So 45 days later it was still not fixed. We decided to terminate the lease and move out because we could not live under such conditions. They later fixed it before they recieved the letter, however told me that I had to figure out scam the hot water working by myself. We later called our landlord to confirm they got our letter of termination, and he told us he was taking us to court.
So I am just looking for some advice on this issue. It is stressing me out a lot and this will be my first time going to court. I have pictures of mold growing from the leak and we just couldn't handle it so we terminated it. Please let me know if I need to be stressing like this or if you think it is a open-close case. Thanks!
